Reality On Disabled Veteran Farm Loans

By Nancy Taylor

Agriculture which is the primary source of most of the food eaten in the entire America is mainly done in the rural parts of the country. It is so interesting also to note that about 44% of the military recruits come from the countryside. This is an indication that they are in one way or another associated with farming and that is how they are able to get these disabled veteran farm loans.

Most of these military recruits opt to spend their last parts of their lives in reticent environments thus most of them prefer going back to their rural areas where they can be able to do farming. It is due to this that the government and the Farming Service Agency came up with unique programs that will aid these new farmers in the form of loans as a show of appreciation.

FSA was fair enough to draw a boundary of the loan services that will be offered to disabled retired recruits and those who retired with no disabilities. This is because farming will tend to be more challenging to the one who is in one way or another physically challenged hence the difference imposed by FSA.

In ensuring there is the efficient use of the loans offered, FSA has strict regulations that are to be met for one to be legible for these loans. Additionally, the rules are aimed at ensuring that these new farmers meet the standards that are required to match this vital sector of the countrys economy.

It is a must that one has at least three years of farming experience before FSA awards them a loan. This move will enable one to know the basics of farming. Also, it is a good way of knowing how to cope up with the trends in this vast sector and as a result assure successful seasons.

Moreover, another requirement by FSA is that a retired disabled military must have a minimum of 30 acres of land for them to be able to have access to this loan. The primary reason for this is to ensure that farming is not only done for subsistence but also for commercial purposes which tend to have more returns.

This new program by FSA and the government has been very helpful to the military recruits as it makes them feel more appreciated after serving their nation. It has turned to be a primary source of living to many who are faced with financial challenges.

Not all citizens are in support of this project. Most of them arguing that the tax payers money which is the source of loan money given to these new farmers is not used. These farmers have little experience that can assure them of profits from their farming enterprises.

This program is also concentrated to the retired military personnel who have the energy to undertake to farm. This means that a retired recruit who is advanced in age with little energy to make farming cannot afford these loans. Additionally, the programme is only for those with an interest in agriculture. There is less that those with other interest can do.
