Conducting Used Car Columbus Inspections

By Michelle Collins

When considering acquiring a used car, it is important that you seek the services of a good used car inspector. This will prove important for you in the future as you will get to avoid unnecessary costs. The following are some Columbus inspections that are done.

To inspect tires look closely at each tire. Are they the same make and type? Is the wear pattern the same on all tires? Do they appear to have been rotated if not very new? The front tires tend to wear on the outside edge more. Rotating them will even out the wear between the front and rear tires. When you inspect tires are they a name brand like Goodrich, Michelin, Bridgestone or Goodyear or are they a name you've never heard of before, a no-name tire?

There are certain pollutants that not only damage the environment but can also cause serious health problems. For instance, nitrogen oxide creates smog when exposed to sunlight. Smog can do substantial damage to lungs, irritate eyes, and aggravate any existing respiratory issues. Carbon monoxide reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood and can be extremely dangerous for people with heart disease. Also, diesel engines often produce a large amount of soot that can also lead to health issues. Soot is comprised largely of tiny particles that can travel long distances, damaging animals, plants, and property.

Interior- This is another good sign that the automobile was well cared for. Look at how the braking pedal and the driver's seat are worn and compare them to the mileage. If the two do not seem to have a close characteristics, it is possible the mileage might have been rolled back. You can confirm this through the history report of the car.

Before selecting a car, you have first to make sure that it has an auto check report. This report contains the details of the car, so you will be sure that it is not a stolen or smuggled car. Giving these documents or information to the mechanic will help him in his inspection.

How it Affects You- The environmental control body sets the national standards regarding the maximum allowable levels of pollutants. If a state does not meet these standards, it is required to implement programs to reduce pollution levels. Many states have thus implemented car inspection emissions tests to ensure that vehicles run as cleanly as possible. Annual car inspections identify automobiles that pollute the air due to malfunctioning emissions control systems, allowing drivers to repair their cars and help the environment.

Open the trunk, does it smell musty inside the trunk? If you smell something musty in the trunk it is probably water is leaking somewhere or this car was flooded. Check the bottom of the spare tire wheel well for rust. It's the lowest point in the trunk. Check for a tire iron and a jack.

Check if the jack is still functioning. It's a real bummer to find that you don't have a jack when you get a flat tire. If the spare tire is mounted under the car, inspect the holding mechanism to make sure it is good. If the car has locking wheel locks installed make sure the key is available and works for those wheel locks.
