Has Your Motorbike Been Clocked

By Kevin Hartley

A motorbike check will have to have the current MOT certificate, this is then checked against the records of the motorbike through the past.

Many motorbikes on the UK's roads are sold with stolen MOT certificates, fake MOT' certificates, or the bike is actually stolen or accident damaged but an MOT certificate has been cloned of a motorbike that is is not recorded as stolen or damaged.

A motorbike history check will also look at the valuation of the motorbike, the valuation will give you a general idea of the valuation of the motorcycle using the average mileage, the make and the model of the motorbike, this gives you a fair indication of the value of the motorbike, and a reasonable figure to insure your new bike.

A motorbike history check will check different providers to try get a proper indication of the actual mileage on your new motorbike.

The motorbike history checker usually consults the DVLA, VMC, RMI and NMR.

When you buy a motorbike history check you will be asked to give the latest mileage of the bike, this will be then checking with the motorbike service history and check the events in the bikes history.

Clocking is a phrase used to describe the turning back of the mileage history, and it is a huge issue in the motorbike history.

If the bike has been imported then the history bike check will give no details on the registration while the bike was not in the United Kingdom , that includes finance, history and stolen bike records.

The best news is that any motorcycle in the European Union will now be on the history checks due to new european rules and cross sharing of motorcycle life history.

A lot of motorcyclists want private registration number plates on their motorbikes and the changes will be highlighting in the bike history reports.

Thief's try to clone the bike registration number plates as a way of hiding stolen or accident damaged motorcycles.
