A federal judge issued a detention order against Nestor Moreno, a former chief operating officer of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), for the crime of illicit enrichment. According to sources, it was found that the officer was 30 million pesos without being able to prove the lawful origin of them.

The judge handling the case held that the exculpatory evidence that the defendant presented was insufficient to prove his innocence. The detention order was issued by the Fourth District court Federal Criminal Proceedings in the Federal District for the crime of illicit enrichment, under Article 224 of the Federal Criminal Code.

Along with the resolution, the judge ordered the opening of the regular procedure, the administrative identity of the defendant and the suspension of their rights. The judge found that the evidence presented by the PGR is sufficient to warrant the opening of trial. The measure was taken considering that the former official of the Federal Electricity Commission, by reason of his position, improperly increased its assets by more than thirty million pesos.
