Disqualification of Unemployment Insurance Benefits

By Geraldine Baker

Unemployment is becoming a rampant problem in the United Kingdom and in different parts of the world. The economic turmoil has made companies resort to lay off their employees and this is one of the main causes of unemployment in the United Kingdom. From small to big enterprises, no one is ever safe. Most of the time, people who become victims of this kind of unfortunate situation may not be able to get back on track and manage their finances for this type of situation. There are different ways to deal with unemployment and income protection insurance is one of those things.

Income protection insurance provides the policy holder with the capability to protect themselves and their family to be able to continue living the life that they are used to. With income protection insurance, you do not have to worry about having to pay for your utility bills, household expenses, and even the house you mortgaged. Instead of being one of those individuals who gets desperate and stressed not knowing what to do once you face these types of situations, income protection insurance helps you deal with these situations successfully.

Have you heard of the term disqualification? Disqualification happens when you are identified as not capable or not qualified to receive your unemployment insurance benefits from your insurance provider. There are various means to get disqualified from your insurance claims. Some of which are as follows:

You may be disqualified from receiving your insurance benefits when you voluntarily resigned from your job or if you lefts without having any reasonable cause to do so. This is because you will only be granted your insurance claims of you were unable to work due to unemployment which is outside your control such as lay-offs or company downsizing.

Most of the time, income protection insurance may provide you with financial support for up to one year. Some may even provide it for 2 years, while some companies provide for only less than 12 months. With regard to the payment you may receive from your insurance provider, it may range from 1000 to 2000 and even much more. You may get this amount regularly in a month since it functions the same as your salary. Are you still afraid if being unemployed anytime soon? You should not worry anymore.

Your unemployment should be because of instances beyond your control and not due to your own fault. If you are laid off by your company then you may claim for your insurance benefits but if you became unemployed because of misconduct or improper professional decorum, chances are you might not be able to receive your insurance payments. Before you may be able to claim for unemployment insurance benefits, you should be able to manage to meet the requirements being asked of you.

On the other hand, the key to battle life's unexpected circumstances head on is simply prevention and acquiring your own insurance may prevent you from experiencing difficult situations such as the one's mentioned above.
