Exploring Coastal San Diego County CA Properties

By Enid Hinton

A number of people dream, and fantasize living in the limelight of Hollywood, and other cities in southern California. There are also those whom prefer to live a more serene coastal lifestyle. For these individuals, a number of coastal San Diego County CA properties can often be found for sale or rent.

Whether buying, or renting, it should be noted that coastal areas are quite popular, and expensive when it comes to purchasing a home. Travelers can often find great deals on nightly rates at many vacation rentals, rates which are often better than the best listed rate at area hotels. Though, for those looking to stay long term, an extended stay type arrangement, or temporary roommate situation often works better, especially when looking for a job, and planning a move.

In the San Diego Coastal vicinity, it appears one can rent a cottage or condo for somewhere in between $115-150 per night. While most often, rents can run anywhere from $750 upward for a one bedroom apartment. As such, those visiting short term can often get better deals on nightly rates with vacation rentals than hotel rooms. There are often other requirements often related to length of stay, room type, arrival and departure times.

Those wishing to relocate to the area whom need longer stays in the city may fair better at an Extended Stay, or other extended stay, or residential hotel. For some, acquiring a temporary roommate in the area who is understanding of a long distance move can also be an option. Though, most often roommates are looking to replace roommates whom have broken, or left a lease owing money, so it is not surprising at times that others may tend to avoid these type situations.

One of the most important things when buying a home is that the structure will remain in tact in case of earthquakes, mudslides, rockslides, severe thunderstorms, flooding or other so-called Acts of God. While Pacific hurricanes are rare, some do occur each year which have the ability to effect West Coast weather patterns, just to the extent of those seen in the South, or Northeast in the past.

It should also be noted that homes on steep hills and mountains slopes in the area have been known to experience mud and rock slides, especially those which sit high on hills overlooking the bay and coastline. Any one looking to buy, or rent a home in the area would be well served to review any history related to past, and more recent storms and floods before signing any contracts, documents, leases, or sell agreements associated with buying a home in the area.

All one has to do is look at the seaside homes in Galveston, Texas, or New Orleans, Louisiana to see the destruction hurricanes and floods can leave behind with relation to homes, personal belongings and families along with the public economic factor which has plagued each city since Hurricane Katrina, in 2005, and Hurricanes Ike & Rita more recently.

When an individual can find a home in the San Diego area that is built well for a reasonable price, it is often a good idea to consider purchasing the home at the time. Otherwise, as has been the case since time immortal, the offer price could go up or down depending on other offers, and whether or not same is approved, or denied. So, if one finds a dream home, it is always good to put a deposit down as soon as possible to secure the deal, whether paying cash, or attempting to obtain a mortgage.
