4 Tips For Staying Productive After Retirement, By Robert Jain

By Jason McDonald

Despite what you may think, retirement isn't the be-all and end-all of one's contributions to the world. In fact, those that can be classified as retirees can still make a difference, which Robert Jain and other names in the world of finance can attest. It's a simple matter of discovering what can be done and matching the information up to one's own interests. Here are 4 useful tips for staying productive after retirement.

One of the best ways to stay productive after retirement, according to such names as Bob Jain, is by finding a hobby to invest time in. Have you been looking to paint, but haven't been able to because of work? This may be the perfect time to learn. What about learning how to play an instrument? You can devote as much time to this as you'd like. These are just a few hobbies that retirees can build upon in their golden years.

Though it may seem uncommon on the surface, someone who retired can apply for a part-time job as well. While this may appear to be a step down, it's beneficial in the sense that an individual doesn't have to commit 40 hours per week on the job. They can still make some extra cash in a stress-free environment, especially since money is less of a concern at this stage in an individual's life. It also allows them to contribute, which is arguably the greatest incentive of all.

Volunteer work can also be taken by retirees, especially if they don't want to stay committed to contracted part-time work. If there's a fundraiser in your area, there's a good chance that they will be requesting assistance from others. Perhaps this comes in the form of helping applicants sign up, handling money, or what have you. By contributing one's time, they can make a difference to any organization they decide to assist.

Finally, retirees may want to think about traveling, especially if they haven't done much of it in the past. There are many places to see in the world, but some will require more time to see than others. This is especially true for areas that are overseas, as they take considerably longer to get to than areas of the United States. Retirees can get much out of their time when traveling, as it allows them to see places that they may not have been dreamed of.
